You have been asked to come in for a job interview. How should you prepare for it? Here are a few tips.
Do your research
Find out as much as you can about the healthcare organization. This includes its mission, values and goals, along with the more nuts and bolts facts about the place. Much of this you can glean from the organization’s website.
Check out any other literature about the place, such as annual reports and marketing materials. If you know people who work there, contact them as well for information.
Also, make sure you know the duties and responsibilities of the job you are applying for. The job description should give you the information you need.
Plan for the questions
It’s difficult to know exactly what questions the hiring manager will ask, but there are questions that usually appear in most job interviews, so you should be prepared for them.
Many career experts advise answering questions in the form of a story, giving concrete examples with facts and figures. These types of answers are more compelling than abstract or general answers.
You don’t want to memorize your answers word for word, but you should have general talking points ready to go
Make sure you have questions
What do you want to know about the job and the organization? Prepare them in advance to be sure you have some ready to go at the interview.
If you don’t ask questions, the hiring manager may think you aren’t all that interested in the job.
For most interviews, dressing in a suit and tie is still the appropriate attire. Make sure you are neatly groomed as well.
Get a good night’s sleep
Make sure you get enough sleep the night before the interview. Eat a good breakfast. Some career experts also advise their clients to work out before the interview. This helps to tire you out a little, so you don’t feel as stressed out.
