Position Statement

We at Cameron and Company, Inc. want to make our position known, as to how we have been operating since 1970. There are TWO main issues involved.

  1. Classification of Employees:

    • Our pharmacists and pharmacy technicians are classified as our employees.
    • We pay all the required state and federal taxes on these (our) employees.
    • We pay the mandated state required Worker Compensation Insurance.
    • We deduct all state and federal wage taxes.
    • We issue W-2 forms every year. We do not misclassify our employees as "Independent Contractors," nor do we pay them on a form 1099.

According to IRS Revenue Ruling 87-41, a pharmacist, working in a pharmacy, is an employee, not an "Independent Contractor".

  2. Full Insurance for BOTH CLIENTS and EMPLOYESS.
Cameron and Company, Inc. will supply an "Acord Certificate of Liability Insurance" to any and all of our clients.

    This insurance covers the following:
    • Commercial General Liability
    • Automobile Liability
    • Excess/Umbrella Liability
    • Workers Compensation and Employers’ Liability
    • Commercial Crime
    • Medical Professional Liability / Umbrella Professional Liability

Note: The Pharmacist Professional Liability policies that are being sold by Pharmacist Mutual, and some other companies, are designed to be "Excess Insurance". Therefore, that $1m/$3m policy is actually a $1M/$3M DEDUCTIBLE POLICY!! AND, it does not cover any of the other insurances listed above!

This "POSITION STATEMENT" should be shared with all company executives especially, those in the "Risk Management Department" and the "Legal Department".
