These Tips Will Help Improve Your Pharmacy Staff’s Productivity ::

The workload for pharmacists and their staff is demanding. There is a lot to do, and never seems to be enough time to do it. That is why pharmacy staff needs to be as efficient as possible in their work. Here are a few tips to help improve efficiency and be more productive.

Avoid Multitasking

Multitasking is essentially attempting to do several different tasks at the same time. People may believe that they are more efficient working this way, but actually, the opposite is true. Multitasking makes you less efficient.

Research has shown that the mind can focus on only one thing at a time. So when you are multitasking, you are switching your attention from one task to another. This reduces your effectiveness.

It is better to focus on one task at a time and give it your complete attention.

Pharmacy managers should discourage staff from attempting to multitask.

Take Breaks

Pharmacy staff should take breaks throughout the day. Taking a break gives your body a chance to rest and recharge, and as a result, you can maintain your productivity. Without a break, productivity generally tends to fall off.

Research has shown that people can focus intently for 60 to 90 minutes at most, so it’s good to take a short break after that amount of time.

Also, engage in some physical activity during the break. Walk or do some stretching. Movement helps increase oxygen in your blood, helping to give you more energy, clear your head and improve your mood.

Provide Ongoing Training

Staff who are well trained and know how to do their jobs will be more productive and provide better service. There are several different ways to train – pharmacy managers can do it, staff members can share their particular expertise, and staff can use online learning resources and professional conferences.

Providing training also shows staff that you value their professional growth and development, which helps maintain morale.

Set Goals and Priorities

Goals give you direction and help you set priorities for your work, so you are not wasting your time on unimportant tasks.
